Adoration
He strolled upon her table
could smell the lilac in her hair
He waited ever so patiently
wondering if she saw him standing there

And, as the line grew shorter
Her book within his grasp
He glided ever so graciously
with adoration he could not mask

He laid the book down delicately
Saw her grab her signature pen
Starred longingly behind him
-at each and every fan

She turned around and whispered
to her partner sitting in his chair
Looked up suddenly to face him
the one who was waiting there

And, as she began to speak it
she knew not what to say
She scribbled the inscription however
-and it went exactly this way

I've missed you all these long years
since we went astray
The story folded within this bind
is of who we were yesterday
The years sure have been kind to you
I swear you look the same
But, forgive me of my thoughtlessness
but it hurts to write your name
I'll never forget our time spent
That you know is true
Please remember one last thing
this one is for you.

She closed the book tightly
Held it out to him in a shaky hand
A tear welt up so suddenly
she knew he'd understand

He took the book at once
gave her a quick wink and a smile
Stalked off to his awaiting life
still missing her all the while.......

Rainfall
As the sky fell to twilight
that sunless glow
When clouds move in
like a blanket of silvery blue
-I waited
Listened for his thunderous applause
calling out for me
Running out to greet him -
As though my presence was all he needed
to appear
Flashes of light burst at either side of me
And with one loud boom
he was there
I felt him all around me
soaking me to the core
My clothing - mere fabric
that clung tighter/tightly
Recalling the first time he came to me
-in my slumber
Where vast winds blew through
the opening in my bedroom window
Till the house shook,
the floorboards creaked
and raining down upon my bedroom floor
till the rug was drenched beneath my feet
I felt him there with me
-love me
And, I never feared;
even as I watched branches shake
at his anger
Even as everyone else ran for cover
I held open my mouth,
stuck out my tongue
and drank in his wonder.....

Fool's Gold
It isn’t fair
-that you come here and look
-for things you will not find
just as love is fleeting
like harsh words never kind

I know!

Momentary heartache
-cast away when written down
You’ll never understand them
These obscure strings which I am bound

And if words leave there mark
here
If it’s all I feel to say
Hidden in this box
or neatly tucked away

Unbridled passions
Lived today / gone tomorrow
And just as fools have their gold laments
-upon which to share their sorrow…

The Girl Under The Cherry Red Umbrella
The story sounds familiar
And, aren’t they all the same
The beauty and the cherry red umbrella
I did not know her name

I moved ever so close to
that empty bus’s stop
The rain poured down upon me
soaking from bottom to top

Her hair was matted nicely
a tinge of honey to its hue
She smelled of delicate roses
I wondered if she knew

I sucked in deep a breath
and let out a sigh
But, she kept her eyes hidden
and I wondered why

I looked at my watch still soaked now
the time was almost spent
I dreaded standing there foolishly
my senses logged with her sent

I tried to get her attention
figured anything would do
Thought I’d introduce myself
"Hello there.. I’m me, who are you"?

But the bus that pulled up then
was not to be mine
And, as I watched her board it
knew I’d run out of time

She closed that red umbrella
tucked it neatly in her purse
Left me at that bus stop
a broken heart to nurse

And, I’d wonder forever what her name was
or if Id see her again
But, in my lonely hours
see her -
I could always just pretend…

The Artist
Paint it for me
strokes of shadows and hues
of days long ago
before singing these blues

Paint it for me
like riding the waves
of chocolate coded kisses
that a child often craves

Paint it for me
cradled in your arms
when youth was all we knew
and nothing went wrong

Paint it for me
so that I can remember
what it felt like yesterday
when we echoed forever

Paint it for me
‘cause I swear I can’t recall
when our eyes first locked
when in love we did fall

Paint it for me
that Summer time day
when the light of the sun
seemed to never go away

Paint it for me
rolling down hills
valleys that dipped
and, I love you stills……

Fisherman
In a row boat rowing
-a weary man sowing
/reaping
holding vastly before
capsizing
drowning

In a view up ahead
-a vision / fair maiden
with fins that did glisten & shine

He rubbed his eyes
weary
For he knew in the query
-the scenario of his life
in love he was blind

He baited his fishing line
with worm on a hook
thrown out before taking
at least one more look
and, hoped that his luck soon
would change there

And, the wind did howl
And the tide did change
And the long ebony locks danced closer
within the waves

She was beautiful
-he knew this
He could tell from a glance
She was everything he deserved
-after life’s loosing dance

But, as he reeled the line in
for a much closer look
Looked down at the fish
That now sat upon his hook

The pretty maiden sat indifferent
Looked up at the man
-and made a face
For in his was a trace
of with anger
-bitterness
-and resentment

She recoiled just in time
-jumped off his line
and swam back into her watery
enchantment.....
