A Day By The Ocean
The Ocean Waves crashed upon the California shore. And, the Sunlight like a permanent heater; shown brighter against the backdrop of the World all around her.
She was nine-years-old. And, the moth in her pocket, mistaken for a butterfly; was loving the fragrant yarn of her yellow sweater.
And, as she took in the gentle breeze of the Ocean and watched the rustling of the Waves.
She thought long and hard about joining them.
Not particularly a warm day, but not cold enough not to feel the invitation that beckoned to her.
And, in holding onto memories dear, she watched as just up ahead her older brother was collecting Sea Shells. Further still ahead was her father, telling her that it was time to go.
And, the time spent there lingered. Though, the exact time and day would float away from her innocent mind. Like, that of a balloon tied to a wrist unraveling and floating further and further upwards.
She thought long and hard. Closing her eyes and creating her memory, storing it deep within her heart and hoping that she would never let it go.....

To Soar (For Christina Marie)
This Poem is about the Death of Winter and the Birth of Spring - Enjoy!

Soaring

-as your eagle takes flight.

Can't you tell that I'm no longer angry at yesterday?

No longer hiding behind the veil of uncertainty,

-and of another's travels off into the great blue.

And, what is this,

a smile upon my face?

For who/whom?

I'm cascading through lily fields – eyes open.

Kicking up the hay as I roll down along this hillside.

And, I'm smiling all the while.

Damage all but over & done.

Goodbye!

Old Rustic Town
Nobody visits this Old Rustic Town.

-It's windows are boarded up.

-It's shops have closed down.

An Old Dingy Road paved in silver & gold.

-has since been torn up

-and long since been sold.

But, the Ghosts and their laughter still travel 'round.

This Boarded up, Rustic, Dingy Old Town...

Fallen
I stepped over your emptiness
Smeared blood upon your walls
And, as guilt settled within
-gathered you within my arms
-and placed a kiss upon your lips;
just hoping to breathe life back into you
I wept
The tears of a hundred years welt up in my eyes -
flooded the floors and cleaned up the walls all around me
I heard the Angles calling just as I swam up to the surface
to take my last breath before plunging into the unconscious abyss
I saw you -
just then in childlike form
Your body alive and pure
And that golden spun hair -
too soft to be touched
I cried out, but you didn't hear me
'cause you were too innocent
And, I didn't know you as a child
But, could only admire the way your body swayed within the poppies
-blades of grass
-fields of wheat,
and rays of sunshine............

Sleeping Beauty
A timeless beauty as she sleeps.

And, my heart races as her soul keeps

-within the rhythm of silent splender

One look at her now and I surrender

-to every urge locked deep inside.

I love her so much and I can't hide

-what I feel for her now.

Wanting to protect her, and knowing somehow

-one day she'll belong to another and then

-another's heart will break as he looks at her when

-she lay sleeping...

The Frog and The Princess
Once upon a time sat The Frog and The Princess.
And, so starts their story equipped with one wish.
For love
-that went tragically awry.
And, it begins with a wink and a sigh..

"I won't do it!..
I don't think that I can.
There is just no way to turn this frog into a man.

I need to venture now,
-out to the pond
Where lilies lay over and just out beyond.

Wipe those tears now welling up in your eye.
This is it, Dear;
This is goodbye.

I'm hopping on now.
I really must go.
There must be another that can love you just so.

No!.. Let me go!.
Do not kiss me.
I'm not your prince!
Just let me be."

The Princess let him go at once
-as he hopped mistakenly to another
She kissed him so fast
and watch in sheer horror
His body had changed
no longer hopping
no longer swimming
no longer jumping

He turned at once from a frog to a man
looked at the woman now in front he did stand
Looked over at the other still sitting by the stream
rubbing his eyes as though in a dream

Tried to explain
But, no word could he utter
For He was eternally bound to this woman
-the other.

She placed her hand within his
they walked quickly on.
No other word exchanged
though he knew it was wrong

And, the guilt it did robe him of his happy days
And, the woman by the stream that loved him
in ways
Ways that no other could comprehend or feel
For she let him go
-gave him free will.

And, he knew deep inside that all was not right
But, it was too late to turn dark into light
He remember the Princess and how loving she'd been
Heard she gotten married
And, couldn't even begin
-Begin to understand what could be done to right the wrong
He strummed on a guitar and sang his sad song.

But, how sad stories go
-and sometimes how they went.
For the sins of a past
-no time to repent
No time to make amends
for the things that you know
For it is what it is
-when you reap what you sow…………

Picture Perfect
Hello / Goodbye
And, wishing you were here
Smiling at your flashbulb
-in your picture, Dear

And, when will you tell me where to stand?
To convey some make believe
-happiness at will
I’m sure you’ll turn it up & on
-likely and always still.

I’ve seen this image before, Lover
Serving up a second plate
So unreal / real
Far too little... Far too late

Reminiscent of a past blocked out by the sun
The film was overexposed
-and the negative is gone...

Shadows
Recline
And, lastly relax
I’m only dancing in these dingy clothes
within these shadows

Tired
For now, as the birds sing within their trees
-and the sun shines down upon a new day

Broken
These tower walls are closing in
I’m barred in
-and barren inside

Life
As we know it goes on
-and the onlookers cannot hear my calls
And, I’m calling

Reaching
-only out of the tinniest of windows;
feeling the breeze upon my face...

Sandcastles
That house on the shore was empty
-its windows were all boarded up
The walkway was covered with branches
-and its entrance masked in vines by the cup

And, as I stood back second guessing
All the while looking up ahead
Thoughts that clouded my vision
And this is what they said:

-I’m going to miss your smile
And, when you exhale
-yeah, I think I’ll miss your sigh
So, tread lightly into the abyss love
‘cause when you’re lonely
No exchange of words will be found
-to dry an eye

They’ll be the silence of your moment, darling
As you tip toe across that floor
And fold your clothes so discretely
-only waiting for more

Just the mere mention of words
Fed into a mind bound in shame
And, you’ll recollect all those times
-the challenge of this game

And, the chess pieces will be missing
No brave Knight anywhere
Just the four corners of your loneliness
To enfold on you everywhere...
