-and, I beg your pardon.
Please excuse these thoughts as I clear these spider webs within.
My head's mending;
-thank you for your kindness.
Everything for the moment is sparkling like new.
Can you hear it?
-the childlike laughter that echoes?
I bet you knew all along that I thought it would never again be mine to possess.
But, words are fleeting.
And, actions loud.
I shall rise up lifted,
-handing out second glances.
As though, I was riding upon a steam engine…
Bidding you adieu…

Was it just that easy?
I'd sit here and pour you a cup.
Straight from this pot, into this ladle,
-upon your lap; if you'd like.
You see, I never really understood all that stuff.
You know, the stuff they throw at you,
-when you're hurting.
It was just when the winter's cold grabbed hold,
-and I thought: 'Maybe all I need is a cup of tea'
But, it was never enough.
Not to satisfy me.
I craved for something more.
So I pulled out my pot, and all the ingredients I needed.
I worked really hard till it bubbled and did froth.
I lay it out here before you.
To bask in it's warmth.
And, I asked if you would like a taste…

And, then it dawned on me
-your hair was never that shade of red,
nor was it soft to my touch.
'cause, as I ran my fingers through it
-the cuts its coarseness caused sent painful shocks throughout me.
And, as I looked into your eyes
-they became dull/hallow & empty.
They were never as bright as I once thought.
And, that body of yours that held me
-never glistened, but cracked and was dry to my touch.
And, those long legs that caught everyone else's attention
-got caught and bound up in rusty chains.
And, that swagger so pronounced,
-had become to look rather limp and well, lame.
And, your knowledge was fleeting
-as everything you knew became nothing at all.
And, as I watched you laugh at the world around you;
-began to realize that the world was laughing at you…

There once was an empty barnyard door left open a crack.
And, through that door sprang fourth the ghost of yesterday,
-slinking through.
And, there were green leaf trees with branches left dangling
-as though by a thread.
And, the boy who no longer played in the field
-upon the tire swing;
had grown to meet up with someone else's girl.
And, he kissed her fully upon her shallow lips,
-and she died.
And, the daisies all dropped into a defeated bow and wept.
And, every tear drop in Heaven formed upon the weightless clouds
-and reigned down upon the earth.
As, Cupid hung his bow & arrow.
Not a one said a word.
And, life as it were had closed up shop and gone away......

I'll tell you a story.
A tale short or long.
Your choice as I choose my words
-delicately
The story of a Howling Wind
-that picked up its speed and drew me within.
And, within its grasp, held tightly onto me
As my breath lulled
And, I could not scream to save myself.
I reached hands spread out in a defiant matter of speaking
As, my knees and my hands were cut amongst the body of sharpened gates
I could not grab hold of them long enough to hold on.
And, the blood poured fourth through the open wounds.
I closed my eyes
-chose not to see what was in front of me.
Thoughts of the past engulfed me within their bubble.
And, I found safety as I glided through the air
-happily.
Up & upward higher
-until the wind and I became one another.
One
-and in perfect unison.
And, I bid the past goodbye, as my mind closed
-I remembered nothing...

Pay close attention as I speak these words once again.
Not in long nor short formation,
but from the heart
-piercing the soul.
Lyrics heard and interchangeable.
And, let the band play on.
I listened only too closely
for the missing chord.
And, whose fault were it anyway
-that the guitar was missing a string?
Ah, but the music once so pleasing
began to fill the Auditorium
And, the gatherers/gathering held their hands up upon their ears
to protect them from the unpleasant melody.
I heard their protests
as I ran center stage to save you.
To pull you out.
To gather you within my arms.
But, someone beat me to the punch.
Were it not for the lights that did flicker
I believe that your smashing success would have crumbled upon your feet.
And, the fan base so fleeting like thoughts unwritten.
Like a tiny vile of a chemical once balanced.
I fought like a Native that fights for their land.
I tried to keep it together.
I tried to teach you the truth.
And, in the end, it mattered for nothing & no one....

Skinned up knees
and Bobbie socks
Chasing butterlies
and ice cream trucks
Soaking the sun's rays
and playing in the Summer's days
Of, magical faerie tale wishes
-unending
Unknowing youth is fleeting
Ponytails sideline swinging
Big smiles
and front teeth missing
Home
-the last wish you would make to come to an end
Lake water's warm
Bees swarm
Not a care in the world
And, no heartache....

Chasing shadows down broken passageways.
Have you given up?
A string of disaster lain out before you.
And, supposing your life is all that you wanted it to be.
What now?
Bored!
Searching to the past to inflict more pain?
Scraping bottom.
Bottom of the barrel,
-as your monkey's have all fled.
And, when the dust has settled.
Alas karma sets in.
All that you have will be taken from you....

As those lights begin to flicker
I swear their iridescent stare called to the darkness
I missed the sunshine in those days
-when the weather froze me to the bone
And, no; no not a one down comforter would warm me
And, as the wolves howled at the missing moon
Days turned into months/to years and decades
I grew
-up and out of this damp corner
I climbed out from the frigid fear that held me crippled and captive.
Found the inner strength and the beckoning peace
-within…

In the days of Eve
-when apples ripened to the touch.
And, fruits tasted more like butter melting in a hand.
I touched down.
Found it!
At last!
Newness felt and formed.
Woke up!
Bore life.
Accepted my mistakes as mine to make.
Mended.
Found love in the most unlikely places.
Grew…
