Undone
Glass pyramids / paper lanterns
Seeing through
This infrastructure
-the decedent hue
And timeless memories
-like shards of glass,
are cutting up these blades of grass
The innocence, the beckoning back
fables and tales
-talent you lack
Oh, and who for the story you tell?
Your plate empty – no ring of a bell
Nothing is anything if not the same
And who is she – please speak her name
So that I can let go
-not follow after
‘cause this chapter is sad
and lacking the laughter
The generosity of your gentle lull
The polish has faded – the painting is dull
And, I can’t really remember a time when
Just like now – you answered friend
Your heart was true
You sounded sweet
-from the top of your head
to the soles of your feet
Lullabies and goodnights my baby dear
Pulling further away when I wanted you near
But, nothing matters
-to me now.
The game you played,
-well I learned how.
The card table is empty
-the players gone home
The King is alone,
to sit upon his throne
These cards are folding – under/over
The deck is lost,
and you never knew her...

Happy Ending
Timeless teardrops
-dew like streams
pardon me, for heartbroken
it’s seems
am I?
You see I was mistaken and cast aside
and, took it well, well in stride
and, built my world around said tutor
hoping the day sent along a better suitor
and, all those wishes and all those tears
wallowing for all those timeless years
just one day did up and dry
like a magic bolt from the sky
and, just when I thought I was lost
the feelings were mute and not worth the cost
fairy-tale Prince Charming’s when
destroyed the tale before the show began
and all the tears which laughter forgave
hollowness – love robbed the grave
love rocked the cradle, and love did forgive
love, love, for which I live
mushy feelings cast aside.
My heart is full, and not of pride
-not of what ifs and cheap shots
but, full of truth & forget-me-nots
and, if I stand upon my tippy-toes
I bet I can sore
and feel what now never felt before
for first is never last
this is true
and, growing old is all I want to do
-with you…

My Little Girl
My little girl fits right in my hand
Makes me happy and I am her man
My little girl – comes up just this high
Cradles close to my chest
Stands upon her tippy-toes to look me in the eye
My little girl makes me feel like her hero
Strong and equip to take on the world – more than a zero
My little girl knows that when I kiss her upon the head
My heart springs to life
Holding her close in our bed
My little girl knows there’s nothing to fear
As I hold her this tight / pull her this near
My little girl knows that I love her
Build my all and everything around nothing but her
My little girl has angel eyes with the devilish glint
In the twinkle and chocolate hint
My little girl has long wavy hair
Upon which my hands can get lost in there
My little girl – well I know that she loves me
And, the world should envy – because they cannot be
Me…

(I was inspired by a wedding photo I saw - the girl was tiny/short.. The boy really lanky/tall.. She was adorable. Him.. Not so much.. But, he looked really happy to be standing next to her...And, I swear if that photo could speak.. Well.. I gave it a voice.. Ah Amore!)

Tiny Enchantments
In the pitch black silent stillness
of an appending gloom
Dusted off daisy chains
no longer in bloom
And the tiny enchanted wonders
left upon the attic floor
-are someone else's secrets
The new trendy folk lore
And, locked up tight inside
another's hope chest
Nestled/Cradled and dressed
in nothing but the best
And, to put it bluntly
as though it were by force
Days living now
-not a scent of remorse
Not a fear, not a timeless wonder why
not a stadium full, not one dry eye
Not an empty promise
Not a guiltless shrew
Not a day like then
Nor a Witches brew
Not the stir of a pot
-or the wave of a ladle
A baby stirring
-or the rock of a cradle
Not a Moonlight shinning
Not a Summer's day
Not a perfect morning
Not a prideful today
So what of tiny enchantments
-and spells to put under
And hopeful tomorrows
-and days full of wonder...

Alice
And, then there was Alice
Skipping through a rope
-while all the other children called her names

"Not so!"
-she thought
And, just when did that white rabbit stop breathing?

He was just there – pure and beautiful
It was surreal
-if truth could be spoken

It was love
Love?
Who’s love?
What’s love?
Where’s love?
For certainly it isn’t hiding down rabbit holes

It isn’t pulling up plaid skirts
And hanging one’s head in shame

No! No!
It’s sweet..
Isn’t it sweet?

First times/last times
Laundry lists of times

Alice was counting.
Counting upon her pretty little finger-tips
He loves Me
He loves Me not

He loves Me?

Un-Enchanted Fairytales
And what happened when Sleeping Beauty awoke from her 19 month slumber
To find all and everything was nothing
And, her Prince Charming was merely a footnote unsung
And, her undiscovered Hero was there all along

And, all that she thought was love
-was a lie
The Stage Couch turned back into stale pumpkin pie

The White Couch men
-Three Blind Mice
And, love precious love, like the roll of a dice
-a gift from above
-a gift what you make it
-a gift none-the-less for those who will take it

So, what if she made a fool of herself
It was laughable now the storyline upon the dingy old shelf
And, as history unfolded
As, history was done
Wicked Step Sisters written in and gone

And, Snow so White covered a pure laden ground
As angry vain Queens came 'round
And, make believe
-Seven tiny Dwarves
Parted their way as a matter of course

It was merciless
It was true and it was wrong
And, the smile that upon her lips took much too long
For wicked departures
And, empty castles rung
Through her ears
As a new storyline begun...

Science of Will
When the world comes a knocking right at your door
And, your two-stepping foot steps lead you wanting for more
Mere mention of a yesterday – and your heart's all a flutter
And, the time that exists, things you just cannot mutter
As silence beholds you well into its grip
Your hands that hold you up are beginning to slip
Yet the tumble and fall holds nothing at all
‘cause there’s nothing denying; not the tall of a wall
But, the strength of your will, as you dredge along still
Knowing alas the mere science of will
And, all that is now - is all that will pass
As nothing – not even a thought,
-can last...

What Else
What else
What else
What else while she waits
Ticking in unison
Time beats away

What else
What else
What else while she waits
Twirling in circles
A cage locked in to stay

What else
What else
What else while she waits
Her Golden Locks streaming fourth
-longer growing

What else
What else
What else while she waits
For her love,
who’s appearance
-never showing

What else
What else
What else while she waits
Darkened room
-gloomy & dreary

What else
What else
What else while she waits
Her eyes have become rather
-teary...

Rock Star
Darling..
-come down from your high horse
Pull off that lusty crown
No one likes a dreamer
-who’s taught the world to frown

And, just what have you shown us
Through your book of thorny lies
And your half-hearted truths
We’ve all learned to despise

All those hearts you left aching
Unfinished prose
You told the world you loved her
And, who heaven only knows

Who for your heart beats
Surely not the one in your bed
You filed her with deceit
That rose from your head

And, you weaved your spell ‘round
The girls all a flutter
Candy poisoned apples
In your hands
-they melted like butter

And, you’ve finished for some time
As you settled in
Waiting for the moment
When just like before again

You can start all over
And, again & again
But, you’ll never be satisfied
I’m sorry, My Friend...

Rosewood And Lilac
Where is the world
-when the world stands still
and, the voices are muffled
like silence at will

Where are the streets
-when the children play
and laughter so sweet
it calms the day

Where is the rain
-when the well has run dry
and there no longer are feelings
no tears left to cry

Where is the warmth
-when a hand around
the crock of an arm
through another wraps 'round

Where is the heartbeat
-that goes all a flutter
a wink from your eye
or, your stare
-like no other

Where did that time go
-when all not forgotten
felt fresh & new
a new garment of cotton

When our bodies entwined
Shining like new
Nothing at all
Was all that we knew

And, everything felt hopeful
And spite could not be read
From the tip of my tongue
To the edge of your bed

The rosewood & lilac
And amber so sweet
Innocent rung from my head
To my feet

And, all that was fresh then
And all that is now
Is a mere ancient memory
A line on my brow

And, age folds so timeless
And, age comes so fast
And, firsts like feelings
-fleeting
Comes and goes in a flash...
